  • How should I take care of my Modius headset?
Your Modius headset should ideally be stored in either the protective carry case or the box it came in when not in use. When lifting the headset, it should be held by the headband section and not by the cables. Please take care when putting on and taking off your Modius headset. When putting on your headset, we would recommend applying the pads first, and then connecting the cables. **Take particular care when removing your headset at the end of your session to avoid damage to the cFew readers
  • Can I bring a Modius headset on a plane?
Yes, most airlines will allow the Modius headset to be taken on board, whether in hand luggage or in a checked-in suitcase. Many of our users regularly travel with their Modius and don't encounter any difficulty whatsoever. However, a small number of airlines may restrict the carrying of items which contain a lithium battery so you may wish to check with your carrier prior to flying. For your reference, the type of battery contained in a Modius headset is a Lithium Polymer 3.7V 155mAh 0.57Wh.Few readers
  • What kind of charging cable does the Modius headset require?
Modius uses a standard Micro USB charging cable. If you have lost or damaged the cable which came with your headset, any standard Micro USB charging cable should also work.Few readers
  • How do I know if my pads are in the right place?
Once your skin is clean and dry after using one of our supplied wipes, you are ready to stick your pads in place. You should place the pads in a hair-free area along the mastoid bone behind your ear, as indicated in the following image: To help illustrate this for you please watch our video below which explains pad placement in more detail. ${youtube}[Check Pads Troubleshooting | ModiusFew readers
  • Does Modius have to be attached behind my ears?
Yes, the gel pads for the Modius headset must be applied behind your ears. This is the only place the device has been specifically tested, and the only place it will produce the desired effect of stimulating your vestibular nerve. You must never apply it anywhere else on the body, particularly on the head or chest.Few readers
  • Can Modius SLIM make me gain weight?
There is no evidence (or theoretical reason) to suggest that the vestibular stimulation delivered by Modius SLIM can negatively impact the hypothalamus leading to weight gain.Few readers
  • Is Modius the same thing as a TENS unit?
While these devices have many things in common, the properties of the electrical pulses that Modius delivers are very different from that of a TENS. We would in no way recommend using a TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) device for vestibular nerve stimulation.Few readers
  • Does Modius interfere with any other brain activity?
There is no evidence to suggest that Modius headsets interfere with any other brain activity.Few readers
  • How and why was Modius developed?
The Modius range of headsets bring together our team’s passion for medicine, electronics and helping others. The first headset, Modius SLIM was in development for over five years. It all began with Dr Paul McGeoch’s observation that electrical stimulation of the brain could help people struggling with weight loss. He shared his findings with his colleague and friend, Dr Jason McKeown, who had been drawn to the field of Neurosurgery in part due to his fascination with technology and electronics.Few readers
  • How much research has been done?
There is widespread acceptance that cranial stimulation can impact brain function. This is known from thousands and thousands of hours of research on animals and people, in labs and outside. A number of clinical studies have been carried out looking at the technology behind Modius. If you’re interested in further information on the research, please visit the science section of our website here.Few readers
  • Is Modius safe?
Although Modius is a new device, the technology of neurostimulation has been around for a long time and is well established. The first implanted devices were inserted over 30 years ago and operating at a higher voltage. Modius has a greatly reduced current compared to these implanted devices and does not directly activate the brain but rather stimulates the balance nerve that runs in the bone of the skull behind the ear. We are therefore confident that Modius is very low risk in comparison.Few readers
